Newtown N.S Parents’ Association is made up of parents in the school. The association is a great way for parents to get involved in school life. We meet regularly to discuss fundraising ideas which not only helps raise money for our school but also get the kids excited about activities happening in their school.

Some of our fundraisers:

– Our annual late late toy show bags are always a great hit with the kids and adults with prizes to be won.

– Tie dye t-shirt which the kids love doing.

– Our very popular disco.

These are only some of our ideas.

With the help of volunteers, the association

– supports the school through fundraising

– promotes active parental involvement in the childrens’ education.

“Educational research on the involvement of parents in schools shows that children achieve better outcomes when parents and teachers work together.” (National Parents Council)

Members of the committee make themselves available to parents at school coffee mornings to answer queries and gather feedback.

Would you like to help out as a volunteer? Do you have a great idea? Are you a subject matter expert who could give a talk to parents? Whether you want to be on the committee, or just help out whenever you can attend school events or maybe you’re good with a paint brush or cutting some trees back.
Every parent who helps out makes a difference.
