It was a very busy November and December here in the junior and senior infant classroom! We are hard at work in Literacy and are doing fantastic with our Jolly Phonics and tricky words! We love using our whiteboards and sand trays to practice writing our letters and numbers! We are doing really well with our handwriting and reading. Super work.
Our Aistear theme in November was “food”. We explored our favourite food and opened up our very own supermarket. We had so much fun pretending to be customers, stacking the shelves and working at the check out desk.
This linked in well with our theme of “Bia” in our Bua na Cainte programme which the children really enjoyed! We even planted our very own garlic and we have been watering them each week. We can’t wait to watch them grow!
Our sensory tray was a big hit every morning, as we made freshly baked play-dough cookies and vegetable soup to keep us warm in the frosty weather.
December was a very exciting month as we began our countdown to Christmas! We designed our own Santa’s post office, where the children had the opportunity to write their letters to Santa. We loved decorating our classroom and had lots of fun painting snowmen, Santas and making decorations for our Christmas tree.
We had lots of fun preparing for our nativity play ‘Donkey for Sale’. The children did fantastic and we are all very proud of their super performance. We hoped you all had a lovely relaxing Christmas and new year and we are excited for our new term together in January.
