There was great excitement coming back to school after the summer and catching up with friends. Play has been a big highlight so far with the children exploring their creative and imaginative side, as well as learning skills like patience and resilience while attempting to make a house of cards or setting up some dominos! They are having a lot of fun and are looking forward to continuing play throughout the year.

This year First and Second are using the UFLI programme for their phonics and spellings and the children are enjoying learning different rules. They are very excited when they spot their phonics or rules in different texts throughout the week.

PE has been popular this term as we took part in outdoor and adventure activities as well as practicing football skills with Conor. We look forward to Conor returning in the new year for hurling and camoige.

In Art, we read ‘The Beautiful Oops’ which reminds us that even a tiny mistake can turn into something beautiful. Leaf art and designing autumn fashion-wear also proved to be a highlight.  In Music, they learned about the artist Stevie Wonder and they liked listening to some of his music. ‘Sir Duke’ was one of the class favorites.

The children ended the half-term with the yearly spooky walk and there was great fun as they showed each other their costumes. We look forward to the upcoming term as there are lots more exciting things to come!
